Central Helium Liquefier Plant
With a capacity to liquefy up to 6,300 liters per hour, this is the largest helium liquefier plant in the world. It produces helium at a temperature of 4.5 kelvins (-450 degrees Fahrenheit), the perfect coolant for the superconducting magnets of the Tevatron accelerator. More than 15 miles of pipes transport helium from the CHL to the Tevatron magnets and back.
