October School's Day Out
School's out Day Camp on Oct. 5 and Oct. 8: childcare for school age children (7-12 years) will be offered at Kuhn Barn, lower level, from 7:30 a.m.-5:00 p.m. Cost is $25.00 per day/per camper. Enrollment will be accepted until noon on Friday, Sept. 28. Space is limited and will be filled on a first come, first serve basis. The program will be cancelled if less than 8 register. Campers will need to bring a lunch. A refrigerator and microwave are available. Beverage at lunch, morning and afternoon snack will be provided. Prescription Safety Eyewear Notice

Chess club starting new season
The Fermilab Chess club is open to all employees and visitors and meets during the year,
depending on demand, for casual games. During the academic year we also participate in
evening matches sponsored by the Chicago Industrial Chess League. Half of these matches
are played at Fermilab and the other half are played at nearby companies and organizations,
such as Lucent Technology and Argonne National Laboratory. Please contact either Lenny

Discussion of the views of Sam Harris on religion
The Bible Exploration for Lunch League will discuss objections of popular writer and lecturer Sam Harris toward the Bible and religion, using excerpts from his own recorded presentations, and will examine his outlook and approach. Background, methods, consistency, and terminology will be reviewed to better understand his position and claims. The meetings are planned for four Tuesdays from 12:00 noon to 1pm beginning October 2, in the Quarium on the southwest corner of the 8th floor of Wilson Hall. Update on Mac OS X 10.8 (Mountain Lion)
Mac users, here is an update on the recent release of Mac OS X 10.8 (Mountain Lion):
The Desktop Engineering group has evaluated the release and has found no issues. The Fermilab Computer Security Team is now reviewing the request to deploy the release. Once approved, the new systems that are currently being held will be deployed and requests for upgrades will proceed. Desktop Engineering expects this process to be completed toward the end of September or early October. Another announcement will be made when OS X 10.8 (Mountain Lion) has been approved.
Change in User Office Hours
Beginning Wednesday, September 12, the User's Office business hours will change, to accomodate early closing on Wednesday afternoons. Our new office hours are: Mondays, Tuesdays, Thursdays and Fridays: 7:30am to 4pm and Wednesdays: 8am to 2:30pm. Please note that ID Badge applications will not be accepted after 2:30 pm on Wednesdays. .
Martial Arts Classes
Kyuki-Do is a Korean martial art similar to Taekwondo. The Next Fermi Kyuki-Do Martial Arts session begins on September 24. I will teach you how to kick, punch, block, throw and fall, and basic self defense. Classes are held for six weeks on Monday and Wednesdays from 5 - 6 pm at the Recreation Facility in the Village. You need to register for the class through the Recreation Office. The cost is $55.00. You do not need a gym membership to join this class. I will supply a free uniform to students who have never participated in martial arts before. This class is limited to ten students. .
International Folk Dancing returns to Kuhn Village Barn Sept. 13
International Folk Dancing will meet once more in Ramsey Auditorium this Thursday, Sept. 6, and then return to Kuhn Village Barn on Sept. 13 for the fall season. Dancing is held weekly Thursdays from 7:30 to 10 p.m. with instruction and dances for newer dancers early and request dancing later. Newcomers are always welcome.
