ILC Citizens' Task Force

Member Commitments

It is anticipated that serving on the Task Force will require a commitment of 8-10 hours per month throughout 2007. Activities will include:

  • Attend monthly meetings with a maximum of two excused absences
  • Participate fully in meetings and work with all members to identify shared values and interests and strive for consensus on important issues
  • Read all provided materials in preparation for meetings
  • Read all materials and summaries for any meetings missed
  • Stay in contact with neighbors and associates to bring broader community perspectives to the discussion and inform the community about the ILC

Ground Rules

  • This is a safe place to share ideas
  • We will attack issues, never individuals
  • Openness is the rule, not the exception
  • Everyone participates
  • One conversation at a time
  • Listen for understanding
  • It’s OK to disagree, but not to misunderstand
  • Focus on what’s important

Broader Public Involvement

In addition to the interpersonal contact expected of each member, the Task Force may expect to host one or more broader public events during the life of the Task Force. The Task Force will help to determine the need, focus and format for these events. Task Force members will be expected to participate in these events and assist in encouraging the local community to participate.
