The successful applicant will be expected to conduct original research on his/her choice of experimental activities within the Fermilab Center for Particle Astrophysics (FCPA). Current projects cover a broad range of topics including the direct detection of dark matter (SuperCDMS, COUPP, DarkSide), investigating dark energy via astrophysical surveys (Dark Energy Survey), probing the Planckian quantum structure of space-time (Holometer), and studying the highest energy cosmic rays (Pierre Auger Observatory). There are also opportunities to participate in the development of new projects targeting dark energy or dark matter science, axion searches, and detector R&D. Members of the FCPA interact regularly with experimental/theoretical scientists and members of various engineering and technical departments throughout the laboratory.

Eligibilty

The successful candidate will be a PhD physicist of exceptional talent with a proven research record.

Term of Appointment
