• Aspects of Shareware Support - Jeff Kallenbach

  In the course of the presentation on Java Analysis Studio, Jeff said that one feature of this program was that Java seemed to be stable and uniform. However, it was mentioned by the group that this may not be the case; that in fact Sun is considering destandardizing.

• Octave - Scott Snyder

New support criteria resulting from this research:

• How mature is the product?
  • Recent releases are extensions/enhancements, not bug fixes
  • Mailing Lists
  • Full-bodied FAQ
  • Reasonably paced & useful updates

• Does it have wide user base (by itself, or part of big project)?

• Has it been kept up to make use of recent improvements?

• Can it be upd'd easily?

• Can it make optimal use of environment easily?
