Project WBS Element Definition

The Support Databases Project will identify needs for database support for CDF and D0 in areas other than direct access to event data. It will provide for designing and implementing solutions as needed using common database management systems supported by the Computing Division, such as Oracle, and potentially Objectivity and msql.

This project will provide database management system infrastructure, including the purchase of any needed software licences, involvement in the procurement of hardware, installation, configuration and maintenace of the database management system itself. Where possible common projects as requested by CDF and D0 will be identified, proposed and implemented - potentially in such areas as Calibration, Run Parameters and Conditions, and Hardware Tracking.

Project Scope and Deliverables

• Purchase and licencing of commercial database management systems
• Identification, evaluation, development, deployment of supporting tools and applications
• Development of joint experiment applications, as defined by sub-project wbs elements.

Project Status

Request for Oracle licences from D0. Test databases in place for learning and prototyping.
