Project WBS Element Definition

This project includes investigation, design and implementation of the event data access. Included are the software systems to retrieve event data for analysis. The systems implemented for CDF and D0 are expected to have areas of commonality and areas where the individual needs of the experiments may result in separate solutions.

Project Scope and Deliverables:

The project will architect, design and implement the access to the event data from the Mass Storage Systems. It will include the tracking and cataloging of the events to allow experiment application serial and random access to the event data, based on various selection criteria. It will include software which optimizes as well as manages the access to the data.

The project will apply engineering design and implementation in the following areas:

• Design and implementation of software system for access to data from the storage management system for Experiment processing and analysis.
• Specification and implementation of Database needs required for cataloging and/or storing event data.
• Understanding needed access patterns required for data processing and physics analyses.
• Control and management software needed for the proposed system(s).
