Fermilab Physics Class Library (ZOOM)
The Physics Class Library Project includes effort and software needed to provide the basic mathematical, statistical, and general physics capabilities necessay for the new C++ environment being developed for Run II at CDF and D0. These capabilities, for the most part, were encompassed in the Fortran environment by the suite of programs distributed in CERNLIB, and include such categories as random number generation, histogramming, general numerical algorithms, and objects embodying HEP-specific concepts.
The target ZOOM environment is defined to be an object-oriented framework using C++.
The project is responsible for packaging, releasing and distributing the necessary code for obtaining these capabilities, in the context of a limited, specified set of supported platform/compiler combinations.
Provide packages to meet the basic requirements, following a defined process of recommendation and approval, through one of the following methods:
Priorities, platforms, and packages required are determined on an ongoing basis by the CDF-D0-CD Run II Joint Offline Project Steering Committee.
